At the heart of Mad City Funk’s electrifying sound is Shawn Peters, the band’s founder, bandleader, and bass player. With an unstoppable passion for funk and a deep love for the classic grooves of Earth, Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson, Prince, and Stevie Wonder, Shawn has dedicated his life to keeping the funk alive.

A seasoned musician with years of experience, Shawn formed Mad City Funk in 2012, determined to bring the soul, rhythm, and energy of live funk music back to Madison. As the driving force of the band, his deep, thumping bass lines lay the foundation for every performance, making sure the crowd feels the beat from their heads to their feet.

Whether he’s locking into a funky bass groove, leading the band with his dynamic energy, or hyping up the crowd, Shawn’s mission is simple: to get you on your feet and dancing!
